This was the birthday card for my friend Joann Cooler, who turned 24 last week. I am just getting around to posting it here because I am a lazy, lazy man. Some of you might find it strange that I depicted Joann so happy during what is clearly the ending of the world. Well you have to understand that there are two kinds of people on this planet. The first kind are ostensibly normal, and do not spend much time wondering about the most efficient way to stop a zombie. The second kind sharpen their blades, oil their guns, gather together blunt objects and eagerly await the upcoming Apocalypse. Most of my friends and I fall squarely in that second category. Remember … the attackers can be stopped by removing the head or destroying the brain.

I’ve been meaning to update the entire patguarino dot com website for awhile now, and I think I am going to try a marathon design/code session this weekend.  I mean what else am I going to do?  Not like I have a life.

If you stop by the site this weekend and things seem strange, I promise, I have every intention of making it all ok by Monday.  For bonus fun, stop  by on Monday for my excuse as to why none of it actually got done.  Good times!

Today is April Fool’s Day. Take that fact into account when reading absolutely everything on the web. Seriously, everything. That email from your Mother? That is an overly complicated prank by Google. That Nigerian Prince, he really doesn’t want to give you millions of dollars.

For my part I am going to spend the better part of my day being incredibly skeptical and trying to avoid getting Rick Roll’d. This is an especially hard day for video game fans because just about every news website makes it their mission to bombard us with amazing news that is just too good to be true. And even if some amazing news does come out like a really cool new song for Rockband or some interesting new indie game footage ,it is hard to take it seriously on a day like this.

So take it easy and keep an eye out. You never know who’s trying to make you look like an idiot.

how to speak HIP!

So I took last week off mostly because I was working long hours at the job while at the same time fighting a cold that sprang up last Sunday. So today was going to be my first day back with new content. That is until I went to save the file I was working on in Photoshop only to have it crash on me, losing the last two hour’s work. Damn! But wait, it gets better.

I reboot the computer, start up photoshop again and this time save a blank document as a test. There goes Photoshop again in a spectacular crash for absolutely no reason. I suspect this might have something to do with the update Adobe told me to install last night. G’AH. Anyway, if I have time I will try and post something new tomorrow from my functioning work computer. If not, then you’ll see something new once I figure out what the hell the makers of Photoshop did to my Photoshop.

It is days like this that I wish I was back in High School just showing people the doodle I finished on the back of my Math homework. Sometimes analog is just that much easier.

I had every intention of getting an illustration up for today’s celebration of all things Irish, including the grand Celtic tradition of consuming bright green beer brewed in Milwaukee. Unfortunately after spending 12 hours over the weekend in my car driving back and forth from LA, I arrived home last night with barely enough energy to take my shoes off before colapsing into bed.

So I am celebrating this day with a green t-shirt, green colored cookies, green spearmint Altoids, and an online radio playlist consisting of Flogging Molly, The Dropkick Murphys, the Pogues, The Young Dubliners and whatever other Celtic punk band can manage to elbow its way in.
