Detroit is beautiful flickr set.
Tonight’s post features two of my favorite things, artists that are more talented than I am and Detroit. I don’t know how long it will be before I stop thinking of Detroit as ‘home’ but almost two years after fleeing Michigan in search of a job, it is still one of the first things I tell new people about myself. I am from Detroit. And really, I’m not. Despite living there for four years in college, deep down I am that suburban kid who just doesn’t like the awkward conversation that starts with “I am from Berkley, which is a small suburb about 30 minutes North of Detroit, near Royal Oak where that Jack Kevorkian guy killed people. You know 8 mile? Yeah I lived on 12 mile.”
Anyway, I stumbled upon a Flickr profile of someone named “sweet juniper” who has some amazing photos of Detroit.

There are other Detroit sets in there as well, but this particular one had an excellent mix of architecture, graffiti, urban decay, and city life. This Picture of the Detroit Public Schools book depository made the front page of a number of sites like Digg.com, Reddit.com, etc.
Check it out!
