Amy
For whatever reason, this is one of my favorite sketches of all time. There is something really simple about it, and even though it is obviously unfinished, I don’t seem to mind that much.
I did this last summer for Tim who was putting together a writing portfolio to shop around at Comic-Con in San Diego. His tome ended up being longer than most standard college dictionaries, but still he wanted to pack in more. Tim was including several of the scripts that he wrote back when we were doing the Target Practice comic strip, and one of those scripts included a story arc involving a character named Amy. Tim asked me to do a quick sketch of her, and this is what I came up with. Oddly enough the “sketch” ended up being a good deal better than any of the art I had ever done for the Target Practice strip. Such is life.
