If I didn’t love alliteration so much I was going to title this post “Beware my demon nipples!”.

So yes, I took one of the creatures from yesterday’s sketch and did a little Pixel art. For those of you who have seen my business card, it should come as no surprise that I am a fan of the low-res art. Undoubtedly it is a holdover from years spent playing Atari, Nintendo, Genesis, Super Nintendo, and Saturn games. My all-time favorite video game, Chrono Trigger was quite possibly the high point of the 16-bit graphics era. Sure today’s games are beautiful and amazingly realistic, still, there is something nice about being able to count the number of colored squares that makes up your digital avatar.

Sadly there aren’t many studios today putting out quality 2-D sprite based video games. Last year’s Odin Sphere being one notably beautiful exception.
