HBO Intro : Behind the Scenes.

In the interest of saving time, those of you who did not have access to Cable television in the 80’s may want to disregard today’s entire post.

Alright now that we’ve gotten rid of them I can continue. I have a strange fond memory of the 1980’s HBO intro that involves a fly-over of a city and the giant spinning “HBO” in the sky. It had that great HBO theme music and was probably really impressive looking back in the day. I think I remember it so vividly because most of my favorite childhood movies were taped off of HBO, including at least one of the Star Wars flicks, so you can imagine how many times I’ve watched that little 30 sec clip.

Amazingly enough, back in the early 80’s there was a “making of” clip that aired on HBO. Even more amazing is the fact that someone had the foresight to record it, hold onto the tape for over 20 years, and then upload it to Youtube. If you can actually make it through all ten minutes of the clip, you are more of a man than I am, but the classic 80’s music and effects are entertaining regardless.
