How to screw up in music in 20 easy steps.

I loves me a good top 10 list.  The only thing better is a top 20 list, it’s like twice the list!  Amazing.  Two times the action for the price of one, which when you are dealing with the internet, is free anyway.

Blender’s online magazine is running an article on the 20 Biggest Record Company Screw-Ups of All Time. There are a number of really interesting points in there, but the one that stuck with me was number 17. I never knew that Thomas Edison, creator of the phonograph no less, had himself his own record label called National Phonograph Company which later became Edison Records…naturally. Unfortunately it seems that Mr. Edison, despite being a very bright man, did not care much for Jazz music. After his record label released the first Jazz Album ever, they decided never to release another again. I believe in the music industry that would be referred to by the Industry phrase: Incredibly Stupid Idea! Hit up the link for 19 more of them.
